Lagunitas Fusion 15 Black IPA? At the Contented Cow? YES! Tapping on Saturday Aug. 17, 2013, at 5pm!
Earlier this summer we heard from a friend of The Contented Cow:
“My name is Pete Skold, and I’m a member of the Milltown Mashers homebrew club in Northfield. I’m writing to let you know that I recently entered and won a contest put on by Lagunitas Brewing Co. The prize was to go out to California and brew my recipe on their system. The beer is coming back to Minnesota in Kegs only. I know that some bars in the Cities are going to get some, but I thought it would be awesome if it could get on tap at the Cow….”
And, Saturday Aug. 17, 2013 – We’ve got a keg! Come down and share it! Tapping will be at 5pm. With only 120 pints per keg, and only 1 keg, you know that it will go fast.
Pete said that it is a full-bodied black IPA, with a stone-fruit hoppy flavor (as oppsed to a citrus hoppy flavor). It has strong notes of chocolate, and subtle roasted malt notes. It is also raisiny, making it a “fruity, nutty, chocolate bar” style of beer! Sounds yummy to me!
Pete lives in Wester, at Waxwing Farm, with his wife Anna Racer, and has been homebrewing since 2005. As a member of Northfield’s Milltown Mashers, his beer was selected by their club to represent them at the MN homebrew competition held by Lagunitas. Pete won in St. Paul, too, and thus was selected to brew Fusion 15! Out in California he worked to scale up his recipe, from a 15 lb of grain homebrew receipe, to one calling for 1.5 TONS of grain! Brewed into 160 kegs, Northfield’s Contented Cow is pleased to have one of them, and on the 17th we hope to share it with you!
